TA very nice gents silver pair cased pocket watch which I think will date to circa 1830-40. It has the same hallmark on both cases for Birmingham but I am unable to specifically identify the year. There is a watchmakers repair label inside the cover for Thomas Pomphrey of Lochgilphead, Scotland which adds some history to the watch.
Movement:-
The English movement (been replaced at some time in the past) with a Verge Escapement, Fusee chain drive and bright clean gold gilding was serviced when I bought it recently.
It has been running well over the last few days and keeping good time for a 200 year old antique watch. Key winding from the rear and hand set by a square in the centre of the hands both function smoothly and there is a key supplied.
Case
:-
The good condition large case measures 56mm diameter approx and as you can see has had some dents removed in the past. Both cases have been cleaned and polished and have good strong unstressed hinges with all the covers closing well. The rear cover open easily for winding and there is a key supplied.
Dial:-
It has a nice clean white ceramic dial with bold black Roman numerals. Gold hands and an origional crystal glass all add to the quality and originallity of the watch.
An excellent watch for the Collector or for Occasional Use.
Please check my feedback and buy with confidence as I will refund in full if found to be not as described
